2017 International Students Recruitment for Master's Program in English

Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) was founded in 1956 and is one of the first Chinese medicine higher education institutions established in the People's Republic of China. BUCM is also the only institution of Chinese medicine included in the National "211 Plan". The English-language Master's program in Chinese Medicine is a continuation of our commitment in promoting Chinese medicine and educating Chinese medicine international talents. Our University welcomes all interested international applicants!

 

Master's Program:

The Master of Chinese Medicine is a 2-year program (study years usually do not exceed 4 years). The curriculum consists of lectures, clinical training, thesis writing and defense, of which the clinical training time will be at least a year.

 

Course Language:

All courses will be conducted in English.

Note: The English courses are presently offered for international students from overseas partner universities. For individual applicants, please email the Graduate Admissions Office (masters@bucm.edu.cn) for enquiry. The University will decide if the courses will be offered depending on the number of students for that particular year of entry.

 

Admissions Requirements:

1. Applicants are non-Chinese citizens holding foreign passports. Applicants to a master's program should hold a bachelor's degree equivalent to the Chinese undergraduate education level. Applicants to a doctoral program should hold a master's degree equivalent to the Chinese master's education level.

2. Applicants should hold a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Medicine (Chinese Medicine or Western Medicine). Currently enrolled students who have not completed their degree can submit a pre-graduate certificate stating the name of the degree that will be conferred upon graduation.

3. Observe the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China.

4. Passionate about Chinese medicine and have a good foundation in biomedical sciences or Chinese medicine knowledge.

5. Outstanding academic grades.

6. Language proficiency:

     (1) Pass one of the following proficiency tests:

Cambridge Business English Certificate (BEC): BEC level 2 and above

Cambridge English (MSE): FCE and above

IELTS: 6.0 and above

TOEFL (TOEFL iBT): 90 and above

     (2) Applicant's nationality is from a country where English is the native language.

     (3) Applicant's nationality is from a country where English is the official language.

     (4) Courses for the undergraduate study were conducted in English (evidence must be provided to prove that the teaching language was in English).

 (5) Other relevant English proficiency certificates (Please contact the Graduate Admissions Office for specific results requirements).

 

Application Materials:

 (1) Application form (1 copy), completed with the applicant's signature and photo (Attachment 1).

 (2) Personal statement of minimum 1000 words written in English. Please tell us about your educational background, work experience, academic research achievements, research plans for your master's study at BUCM and career goals in your personal statement.

 (3) Two letters of recommendation from faculty members (professor or associate professor). The letters must be the original copies in English or Chinese, signed by the recommender with the contact details, and sent in sealed envelopes signed on the flap by the recommender.

 (4) All undergraduate academic transcripts, original or notarized photocopy. If the academic transcripts are in a language other than English or Chinese, a notarized copy of the translated transcript in English or Chinese has to be provided.

(5) Notarized photocopy of the highest educational certificate obtained (currently enrolled students are to provide a pre-graduate certificate). For certificates that are not in the English or Chinese language, a notarized copy of the English or Chinese translated version has to be provided.

 (6) Contents page and abstract of published papers, or any documents that can prove the applicant's research abilities (an English abstract has to be provided for papers not in English).

 (7) Photocopy of passport (a valid ordinary passport).

The electronic copy for all the above application materials must be sent to the Graduate Admissions Office email (masters@bucm.edu.cn) before the application deadline. The hardcopies can be sent through mail or submitted in person at the University. Additional documents may be requested by the University if required.

Incomplete applications will not be processed. All documents and application fee will not be returned no matter if the application is successful or not.

Admissions Interview

 (1) Content and format of interview: face-to-face interview, assessment of professional knowledge (written test)

 (2) Interview date: End of March 2017 (estimated date)

Note: The interview date for enrolment into the Spring semester for the English-language Master's program in Chinese Medicine is estimated to be held in early January 2017. The specific date will be announced on our University's website (http://yanjiusheng .bucm.edu.cn).

 

Acceptance

The University will decide the application outcome based on the admissions interview results. The successful applicant will receive the offer letter and JW202 form.

 

Registration date:

End of August to early September 2017. For students in the English-language Master's program in Chinese Medicine who wish to enroll for the Spring semester, the registration date is March 2017. Please register according to the date stated on the offer letter.

46 000 RMB/ year
